Opposition to the use of artificial intelligence to search through texts and data

The structure of this Website, together with all the audiovisual works and content featured on the Website, as well as all their components (text, graphics, symbols, signals, sounds, images, etc.), are protected by intellectual property legislation and may not be used in any way without the prior written authorisation of Label Anim.

Where necessary, Label Anim hereby objects to any digital copies or reproductions of these audiovisual works, content and/or any of their copyright-protected components (text, graphics, signs, signals, sounds, images, etc.) for the purpose of text and data mining, in particular by means of an artificial intelligence (AI) system, within the meaning of Articles L. 122-5-3, III and L. 211-3, 8° of the Intellectual Property Code (CPI), transposing Directive (EU) 2019/790 of 17 April 2019 on copyright and related rights in the digital single market.

Article R. 122-28 of the CPI specifies that such an objection ‘need not be justified and may be expressed by any means’. In the case of content made available to the public online, this objection may, in particular, be expressed by means of machine-readable formats, including metadata, and through the terms and conditions of use of a website or service”.

It is noted that, in the course of its business, Label Anim may authorise its contracting parties and/or online news services to use the audiovisual works, content and/or any of their copyright-protected components (text, graphics, signs, signals, sounds, images, etc.) featured on the Website, to the extent strictly necessary for the authorised use. However, these authorisations do not permit such contracting parties and/or online news services to make digital copies or reproductions of these works and/or content and/or their components for the purpose of text and data mining, nor to authorise a third party to do so, in particular an AI system.

Consequently, any text or data mining operations carried out by an AI system using audiovisual works, content and/or any of their copyright-protected components (text, graphics, signs, signals, sounds, images, etc.) presented or made available to the public online on this Website or by third parties—whether such material is made available in extract form or in full, via free or paid access—constitute acts of copyright infringement, subject to the penalties provided for in Articles L. 331-1 et seq. of the CPI, unless prior written consent has been obtained from Label Anim (or, where applicable, from the collective management organisation to which Label Anim has expressly delegated authority for this purpose).
